It comes to many as a shock that the new Troon community known as Sierra Reserve has been cancelled and will not be developed. Out-of-state homebuyers seeking new construction were especially drawn to the luxury community that seemed to rewrite the process of customizing a home. Though there are still many new construction Troon homes available, many simply loved the unique experience that Sierra Reserve would have offered.
The announcement came Monday, March 10th that the 223-acre parcel on which sat Sierra Reserve was purchased by billionaire Bob Parsons, the new owner of the adjacent Scottsdale National Golf Club. Parsons, who also founded GoDaddy, has made big plans for building an exclusive invite-only golf club, and the acquisition of this new land will help him achieve that goal. Reserve Development partners took careful consideration of the terms and conditions of his offer before it was approved.
The purchase of Scottsdale National was a major contributing factor in the sale of Sierra Reserve. Developer Lyle Anderson had partnered with previous owners to give Sierra Reserve residents exclusive options for memberships at the club (then called Golf Club Scottsdale). Though that deal continued after Parsons purchased the club, concerns arose over whether Scottsdale National’s new ultra-exclusive model would limit the number of memberships allowed for Sierra Reserve residents.
Anderson expressed his appreciation for supporters of Sierra Reserve in his Monday announcement of the sale. Though disappointed that the construction of Sierra Reserve will not continue as planned, he is grateful for the enthusiasm shown by the North Scottsdale community and by those who worked on the project.
Troon offers plenty of new construction opportunities for hopeful homebuyers. If you wish to view any Troon homes for sale, call (602) 791-0536.
