Buyers are snatching up their Scottsdale homes before mortgage rates rise higher, and they are not alone. According to the National Association of Realtors’ Pending Home Sales Index, the number of contracts signed on previously owned homes rose 6.7 percent from April to May for an annual gain of 12.1 percent. Current figures show a six-year high in the number of pending home sales.
This home-buying frenzy is offset by a heavy shortage of homes, and demand is only continuing to grow. The U.S. census shows that contract signings for newly constructed homes rose in May to a five-year high. It seems that more potential buyers are taking that crucial step toward buying a home in anticipation of skyrocketing home prices and mortgage rates. Many know that the affordable conditions of the current market won’t last much longer.
