This March, the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association will be hosting their Great Western Cookout event at MacDonald’s Ranch near Troon North. This is a great opportunity for Troon North residents who love the old West to visit this iconic Scottsdale ranch. Get a taste of the Old West while supporting Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park and other organizations dedicated to the preservation of the Sonoran Desert and its denizens.
At the Great Western Cookout, you can expect to enjoy delicious food and fun for the whole family. The “adventure” begins at check-in. You and your party will be given Passports to Adventure, which allows you to explore the many Adventure Stations posted at the cookout site. There will be more than 15 Adventure Stations including a train ride through the desert, a ride in an authentic stagecoach, a petting zoo and a variety of educational exhibits about the local wildlife and the history of Scottsdale.
There will also be western-themed games for folks of all ages to enjoy. Learn how to rope a dummy steer or head over to the horseshoe pits. There are even Adventure Stations where you can bid in silent auctions! Items donated by local merchants, golf courses, artists and restaurants will be available to bid on.
The best part – at each Adventure Station, your passport will receive a stamp. Turn in your fully stamped passport for a prize bag and a chance to stay at a local resort!
At sunset, the Great Western Cookout will begin, and you can enjoy savory sirloin steak and chicken breast, along with tons of other mouth-watering goodies. Beer, wine and soda will be available, and there will be live country music and bonfires to close out the night. Don’t miss the Great Western Cookout, taking place March 1st at 4-8 p.m. Reserve your spot on or before February 22nd!
