According to AZCentral.com, a 17-acre parcel of land in Troon Scottsdale is being taken back by the state. The land was purchased in June 2008 for $12.75 million by JTW PPR LLC. The developer had planned on building a 90-room resort named Capella but has since fallen behind on payments.
They had planned to tear down and immediately rebuild the iconic Pinnacle Peak Patio as well as build a large parking structure for diners, Pinnacle Peak hikers and Capella resort guests.
I’m sure that many homeowners and frequent hikers in the area are relieved by this news. Building on this land will cause an obstruction of views for both homeowners and hikers who enjoy the natural, open desert landscape that Troon has to offer. On the other hand, a new resort in the area is a great way to create more jobs and attention to this beautiful North Scottsdale area.
What are your thoughts? Should somebody build on this open land? What impact will it have on the area?
