For many Troon North art lovers, the Heard Museum has been a beloved part of the cultural scene in North Scottsdale. This hidden gem, located at The Summit on Scottsdale Road, is tucked behind thick screen of brush and cacti and can often be overlooked from the street. Nevertheless, it has served the community for years with its magnificent galleries, unique exhibitions and special programs and events.
It was recently announced that the Heard Museum North will be leaving its current location at the end of May when its lease at The Summit expires. The galleries are scheduled to close on April 1, although the Garden Café and Shop will remain open until May 1. James Pepper Henry, the director and CEO of the Heard Museum, expressed his appreciation for the museum’s many partners and supporters in North Scottsdale.
It was stated that the current economic atmosphere cannot support the long-term sustainability of the museum’s northern facility. However, the Heard Museum aims to continue its outreach in the North Valley through other outlets, and the Phoenix location is still open to the public. The Heard Museum North will continue with its scheduled events and programs for January through April. These include:
- “Fashion Flash Sale” on Sunday, January 26 and Monday, January 27
- Nights at North Events on Wednesday nights from January 29 to February 19
- “Southwestern Tribes” Short Course on Mondays, March 10-31
- Spring Shop Sale from Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6
