The date is approaching for the grand opening of the McDowell Sonoran Preserves the newest trailhead in Troon, called Brown’s Ranch. The trailhead is opening near Troon, north of Dynamite Boulevard at the northern end of Alma School Road. Troon residents and the City of Scottsdale are excited to commemorate not only the new trailhead and access point the McDowell Sonoran Preserve but also the connection to Tonto National Forest. The Brown’s Ranch Trailhead will be arriving just in time for the popular hiking season. October is when the weather begins to cool down, and the always sunny skies are perfect for enjoying the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Scottsdale has also made October the official McDowell Sonoran Preserve month. Hikers, bikers and equestrians will be celebrating the McDowell Sonoran Preserve by utilizing this new access point to the vast network of trails within. The trailhead will include parking, restrooms, hitching rails, drinking fountains and interpretive exhibits.
The McDowell Sonoran Preserve is one of the most treasured gems in Troon Scottsdale. Spread out over 27,000 acres, the Preserve is home to a rich ecosystem with diverse plant-life and animal life. It has trails that range in difficulty to suit both leisurely and serious hikers.
The grand opening of the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead will be taking place on October 19th at 9 a.m. The trailhead will provide access to exciting destinations such as Granite Mountain, Cathedral Rock and Brown’s Mountain. This is one you won’t want to miss.
