Are you looking for a reason other than golf to join Desert Highlands? Non-golfers at Desert Highlands Golf Club enjoy one of the best tennis programs in Scottsdale. Apart from regularly scheduled social events and tournaments, the Desert Highlands Interclub program is very popular.

Many Scottsdale golf communities are participants in Tennis Interclub Play. Members of Desert Highlands, Desert Mountain and DC Ranch can take advantage of Summer Play Days at other participating clubs. Interclub Teams may compete against other clubs in Interclub Tournaments. This is a great way to experience what other Scottsdale clubs have to offer without having to purchase a membership.

Desert Highlands boasts its own tennis clubhouse and a wide range of tennis courts for members to enjoy. This includes four grass courts, three hard surface courts and six clay courts. New Troon North Hiking Trails to Open

The McDowell Sonoran Preserve has recently celebrated the debut of its newest trailhead, located right in Troon North, between the entrances to Talus and Boulder Crest. These Troon North hiking trails are part of 13,000 acres of new land over the past three years, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve has aimed to pay back the public, whose tax money helped fund the expansion. The Brown’s Ranch Trailhead provides greater accessibility to over 50 miles of trails, including those that lead up to Brown’s Mountain.

The 13,000-acre expansion came with a price tag of $218.3 million. This was covered in part by a voter-approved sales tax and by matched funds from the state program, Growing Smarter. The McDowell Sonoran Preserve now reaches 27,800 acres, though the goal is to expand to around 34,000 acres. The Preserve’s purpose is to protect the natural landscapes and ecosystems, as well as to maintain the lands’ precious connection to the Tonto National Forest.

Hike Pinnacle Peak Today!

One of the most popular hikes in Scottsdale is Pinnacle Peak near Troon North. It is well-marked and offers picturesque scenes of the desert foliage that nature lovers will cherish. When you hike Pinnacle Peak you will enjoy stunning views of the area. This is a great family hike or an opportunity to take visiting relatives for a sunny outing.

By seasoned standards, this is not a difficult hike at all. A round trip will take you through 3.4 miles of scenic trail and a 400 foot elevation gain from the trailhead in around an hour and a half. After a morning hike, the park is a wonderful place for a picnic. Aside from the trail, Pinnacle Peak Park features picnic tables and a ramada for visitors to enjoy a casual brunch after hiking.

Pinnacle Peak Park also offers seasoned events such as guided nature tours, moonlight hikes and astronomy talks. The latest nature walks ended in April but will resume on November 1st. Tours generally take place Tuesday through Sunday starting at 10am. Visitors are treated to around 2 hours of hiking while learning about the wildlife within the park and the history and geology of the area.

Scottsdale Foreclosures Down to Levels Seen in a ‘Normal’ Market

When it comes to the Scottsdale real estate, prices are up, and Scottsdale foreclosures down. The figures are close to those of a healthy market. The Cromford Report shows that the current number of pending foreclosures in the Troon area dropped substantially from the highs represented in late 2010. For those looking to benefit from the low prices of Scottsdale foreclosures or even REO listings, there are still many to be found, but the number is steadily shrinking toward normal levels.

Meanwhile, the prices of homes are continuously climbing. Increasing home sales and plummeting foreclosure rates have both contributed to a significantly smaller supply of homes. This, along with increased demand for luxury homes, has caused the rise in home prices throughout Scottsdale. Check out our Current Market Trends.
