The Scottsdale Polo Championship Returns For Its Second Year

The Scottsdale Polo Championship is returning for its second year. This very exciting event will be held at Westworld in North Scottsdale this Saturday, October 20, 2012.

The gates open at 10am and there are three matches total that day:

  • Bel Air Polo Club VS. The Hamptons
  • Harvard University VS. Work to Ride
  • USA VS Columbia

Scottsdale AZ Polo Tournament

General admission tickets purchased in advance are $15 and $20 if purchased the day of. Tickets for The Lounge are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. The VIP Tent is $75 per person and the CUSP Exclusive Tent is $150 person. These are just a few ticket options, further details can be found here.

Come out and enjoy the all day Polo matches and preview the much anticipated Barret Jackson Auto Show as well as the upcoming Arabian Horse Show.

This year there is a very special team competing. Work to Ride is a non-profit team that was started to help at-risk youth in Philadelphia. The program started in 1994 and has since become a huge success. In 1999 they were the first all African-American polo team in the country to compete. The team members not only practice and compete but they must also work in the stables which are where they get their name, “Work to Ride”.

Troon’s Own Bubba Watson in Ryder Cup

Troon resident, Bubba Watson, will be playing in next week’s Ryder Cup. Bubba is a local favorite in Troon North. He and his wife Angie own a home in Troon and are members of Estancia Golf Club. Bubba doesn’t exactly have a low profile in Scottsdale. He loves to drive around in his “General Lee” car – you know the one from the TV show Dukes of Hazzard. It is pretty easy to pick him out 🙂

Brand new homes are available in North Scottsdale. Some builders have homes that have not even broken ground while others have spec homes just waiting for the right buyer who does not want to wait for the long building process. Many think that the Troon area of Scottsdale is completely built out but that is not true at all. There is actually a new development that just started. The builder, K. Hovnanian Homes has begun a new community called Line K. It is just west of Desert Highlands in Troon Village.  The homes are designed by Dutch architect Piet Boon and are contemporary with a modern European look. The community has 26 home sites with floor plans of up to 3,900 square feet. Homes range in price from $700,000 to $825,000.

In the surrounding North Scottsdale areas, communities such as Mirabel Village, Desert Mountain, Silverleaf, DC Ranch and Windgate Ranch each have brand new construction homes available for buyers. The brand new homes in these communities start at just under $600,000 and go into the high millions depending on how large and how many upgraded features are added.
