The Scottsdale Polo Championship Returns For Its Second Year

The Scottsdale Polo Championship is returning for its second year. This very exciting event will be held at Westworld in North Scottsdale this Saturday, October 20, 2012.

The gates open at 10am and there are three matches total that day:

  • Bel Air Polo Club VS. The Hamptons
  • Harvard University VS. Work to Ride
  • USA VS Columbia

General admission tickets purchased in advance are $15 and $20 if purchased the day of. Tickets for The Lounge are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. The VIP Tent is $75 per person and the CUSP Exclusive Tent is $150 person. These are just a few ticket options, further details can be found here.

Come out and enjoy the all day Polo matches and preview the much anticipated Barret Jackson Auto Show as well as the upcoming Arabian Horse Show.

This year there is a very special team competing. Work to Ride is a non-profit team that was started to help at-risk youth in Philadelphia. The program started in 1994 and has since become a huge success. In 1999 they were the first all African-American polo team in the country to compete. The team members not only practice and compete but they must also work in the stables which are where they get their name, “Work to Ride”.

Troon’s Own Bubba Watson in Ryder Cup

Troon resident, Bubba Watson, will be playing in next week’s Ryder Cup. Bubba is a local favorite in Troon North. He and his wife Angie own a home in Troon and are members of Estancia Golf Club. Bubba doesn’t exactly have a low profile in Scottsdale. He loves to drive around in his “General Lee” car – you know the one from the TV show Dukes of Hazzard. It is pretty easy to pick him out 🙂
