New Troon North Hiking Trails to Open

June 12, 2013 by Carmen Brodeur

The McDowell Sonoran Preserve has recently celebrated the debut of its newest trailhead, located right in Troon North, between the entrances to Talus and Boulder Crest. These Troon North hiking trails are part of 13,000 acres of new land over McDowell Sonoran Preservethe past three years, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve has aimed to pay back the public, whose tax money helped fund the expansion. The Brown’s Ranch Trailhead provides greater accessibility to over 50 miles of trails, including those that lead up to Brown’s Mountain.

The 13,000-acre expansion came with a price tag of $218.3 million. This was covered in part by a voter-approved sales tax and by matched funds from the state program, Growing Smarter. The McDowell Sonoran Preserve now reaches 27,800 acres, though the goal is to expand to around 34,000 acres. The Preserve’s purpose is to protect the natural landscapes and ecosystems, as well as to maintain the lands’ precious connection to the Tonto National Forest.

The Brown’s Ranch Trailhead is scheduled to officially open at sunrise on October 19th, just in time for the hiking season to kick back up. Contact me to find out about any Troon North homes for sale. You can reach me at (602) 791-0536 or at Carmen@TopScottsdaleHomes.com.

Cavalliere Park – Troon North Hike of the Week

May 14, 2013 by Carmen Brodeur

George ‘Doc’ Cavalliere Park, which opened near Troon North Scottsdale just last year, is a favored destination for those who love the desert. Named after Greasewood Flat founder and eldest native-born Scottsdale residentcavalliere park troon George ‘Doc’ Cavalliere, this park sits upon 34 acres of Sonoran desert and includes a shaded playground, two drop-in ramadas, two lighted basketball courts, a wildflower viewing area and a 1-mile, looped hiking trail.

The park’s design is inspired by and an extension of the desert. Many open spaces are preserved within Cavalliere Park, and hikers can behold the lush beauty of the environment, as well as the unique architectural and landscaping designs. The park is dog-friendly too, with dispensers for doggie bags and built-in doggie fountains. The looping trail is not too demanding and perfect for walking your pets.

For its low-impact design and aim toward preserving much of the natural landscape, Cavalliere Park was presented one of 17 Crescordia Awards at the Valley Forward Association’s Environmental Excellence Awards Banquet last year. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the last days of spring outdoors, Cavalliere Park is not to be missed.

Pinnacle Peak Patio Provides an Old West Experience

May 8, 2013 by Carmen Brodeur

Located in the heart of the Troon North area, is a well-known gem dedicated to preserving the Old West. Pinnacle Peak Patio is a little piece of history and one of Scottsdale’s many attractions. Though the city is known for its pinnacle peak patio scottsdalesprawling golf communities, pristinely manicured desert scenery and many modern amenities, Pinnacle Peak Patio, a newly renovated steakhouse and brewery is still a favorite among tourists, locals and even a few big-name celebrities.

What started out as a general store and resting area for fishermen in 1957 became a full-blown restaurant, serving up “Sonoran” brand beers and classic Western barbecue. Pinnacle Peak Patio has since hosted such high-profile guests as Tom Cruise, Paul Newman, Patrick Swayze, David Hasselhoff and Michael J. Foxx. In 2006, before owners Gary Pryor and Harvey McElhanon regained control of the property, the restaurant was ready to be redeveloped into a five-star resort. Today, Pinnacle Peak Patio is back in good hands and going strong.

Pinnacle Peak Patio is the home of a few long-standing and somewhat peculiar traditions such as clipping and hanging up the ties of overdressed patrons or serving an old boot to guests requesting their steaks “well-done.” Whether you are a Troon North resident or just in town, this 56 year-old icon is worth a visit; just leave your tie at home.

There are a number of prized restaurants and attractions in the Troon area of Scottsdale. If you are interested in any Troon North homes for sale, give Carmen a call at (602) 791-0536.

New Hiking Trailhead Coming to Troon Scottsdale

December 6, 2012 by Carmen Brodeur

There is a new hiking trailhead coming to the Troon Scottsdale area. We are very excited about this as it will add one more option to the already fantastic hiking in North Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

The new trailhead will be located near Alma School Pkwy and Dynamite Blvd right in the heart of Troon Village. It will offer additional parking for those that like to come out to this area, as well as restrooms, covered ramadas for gatherings, drinking fountains and much more.Scottsdale AZ

The City of Scottsdale is striving to make sure that this trailhead integrates into the natural surroundings that this area offers. Their goal is to ensure that there is limited visibility of structures to preserve the natural scenery and desert settings.

For more information about this new development feel free to visit www.scottsdaleaz.gov/construction/</a?.

This is yet another amenity for Scottsdale residents to enjoy. If you are interested in living in Scottsdale feel free to call me at (602) 791-0536. I would be more than happy to discuss the current real estate market with you.

New Restaurant Opening in Troon North

November 19, 2012 by Carmen Brodeur

The Four Seasons Resort in Troon North has opened a new casual restaurant called Proof. This is another great dining option for residents of Troon North. It is common for homeowners in Troon to dine at the resort restaurants, lounge in the bar or even purchase a day pass to relax at the pool or spa.restaurants in troon north scottsdale

The restaurant is decidedly relaxed and laid back. It has a western flair with a Wild West decor. There is even a railroad track running through the restaurant.  The menu includes a soda fountain that dispenses milkshakes,  po boys, fried green tomatoes and hand-sliced sandwiches. You can also choose from more than 50 microbrews. For children, there are handmade candies and “TV dinner” menus.

There is additional dining on its patio, which looks out on Pinnacle Peak with amazing sunsets of purple and orange. What a fun way to enjoy a casual meal as a family. This is everything that Troon is known for: relaxing and casual in an upscale, sophisticated environment.

Proof will be open continuously from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Check it out and let me know what you think of it.

Feel free to call me with any questions about Troon North homes for sale or to schedule a tour of any homes for sale in Troon.
